Forbes: New 12-Hole Course In North Florida Is Banking On Golfers Preferring A Good Time To A Long Time

While short courses have been around for a long time, abbreviated loops where the game can be played in half the time of a traditional round have been enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years. Popular golf resorts including Missouri’s Big Cedar Lodge, North Carolina’s Pinehurst and Michigan’s Forest Dunes have all added short courses. Even Tiger Woods got in on the reduced footprint action a few years ago, designing the 12-hole Oasis short course at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas.

The burgeoning trend was still very much in its infancy when David Miller bought a non-performing loan on 160 acres of Ponte Vedra Beach real estate in early 2016. His initial intention was to flip it, not re-develop the land and transform Oak Bridges Golf Club into a 12-hole course. But, after letting a glimmer of the idea for what would become the The Yards swirl around in his head for bit, Miller, who runs a rail terminal he started 25 years ago, decided to forge ahead with his venture…
