Meet our Pickleball Instructors

Maria Nili

Director of Pickleball

Sigrid Preissler

Sigrid is a certified IFP Academy Pickleball instructor and has been with us since day 1. Sigrid is also a Florida licensed Massage Therapist since 2009 and values being part of her client’s self-care plan to help prevent injuries caused by day-to-day activities, including sports such as Pickleball.

She began playing Pickleball in 2016 and was hooked from the start. While she still plays and participates in tournaments, her love of the game has developed into teaching the game to anyone interested in learning. As the game is fairly new to the masses, it is ever evolving, and she is constantly learning and continues to take advanced lessons herself to stay on top of new techniques and strategies.

In her free time, besides playing pickleball, she enjoys traveling, hiking, snow skiing, and coaching the Duval Special Olympics Pickleball Team.

Roseann DeTommaso

Roseann’s love for pickleball began in 2014 after retiring as a police Lieutenant from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She also owned and operated her own Martial Arts Studio, reaching the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt and then the title of “Master.”

Her love for pickleball led her to teach others to learn and enjoy the sport.  She has competed in many tournaments over the years.  She enjoys working with all ages, including our youth program.  When not on the courts, she can be found enjoying her hobbies of photography and traveling.

Noralie Iglesias

Noralie is the newest Pickleball Instructor with The Yards. Her love for pickleball started in 2020. Her interest in teaching came to fruition as she has gotten most of her friends and family members to try out the sport and have also found an endearing love for Pickelball.

When not on the courts drilling and working on her Pickleball game, she is one of the amazing employees in The Yards Pickle Garden Pro Shop. Outside of pickleball, she volunteers with The Duval County Special Olympics Surf Team and also teaches Pickleball to the kids and teens with the Atlantic Beach/Donner program. She also enjoys reading, playing the ukulele and shark teeth hunting.

Penny Moran

Penny is a former elementary school teacher from Atlantic Beach. She began playing Pickleball in 2022, and instantly fell in love with the challenge and camaraderie of the game. Her passion for working with children made it an easy decision to become a youth pickleball instructor.

Outside of The Yards, she volunteers with the youth pickleball program at Donner, coaches for the Duval County Special Olympics Surf Team, and loves supporting the growth of pickleball in our community!
